Why I made this

Watch the mesh from the outside and it looks like a hobby about hardware. Hex IDs, hop counts, telemetry pings. A map full of little green dots.

It's really about the people.

Behind every dot on that map is someone who climbed onto a roof with a drill and a prayer. Someone who talked their partner into one more antenna. Someone who hauled a solar repeater up a ridge, watched the batteries die in January, and hauled the replacement up anyway. We test range on family road trips. We hand radios to friends and explain, again, what a hop is. The map shows coverage. It doesn't show any of that.

So this show is voicemails. Calls from people in the mesh community about whatever's on our minds. The link that finally bridged two towns. The node that went quiet and the mystery of why. Field days, failed range tests, the perfect mast mount you found in the plumbing aisle. New firmware joy, new firmware pain. Or something that has nothing to do with radios at all.

Call the line. Talk for up to ten minutes. Record your node name or handle and say where your corner of the mesh is. I pick the calls that feel right and put them out as episodes.

If you've been lurking on the map wondering whether your story is worth telling: it is. The mesh only exists because ordinary people put nodes up anyway.

Pick up the phone.
